Queen of The Dutchess

Good day Glamstars, it's fashion Friday, a good excuse to dress up as a way of ending a way in a stylish way. I hope everyone is slaying the streets with good looks. Sooo, it's only appropriate that today we feature someone who is fashionable and conscious of what fabric they put on their body.. Check it out

Thandi Mbombo also known as Blue, the Queen of the Royal Dutches is an effortlessly beautiful lady from a small kasi of Free State called Kutlwanong, Odendaalsrus, Welkom. Model and PR Freelancer Blue Mbombo was introduced to Mzansi eyes when she was announced as one of the single contestants of Big Brother Mzansi season 2. Her flawless beauty and petite slim body caught everyone's attention and got many girlfriends covering their men's eyes. This lady is down to earth yet outspoken, which is probably the reason she is where she is today. After listening to her story about her background, I concluded that she is a perfect example of the saying "You do not have to look like what you've been through".  Her partnership with Pretoria's K2 on BBM has scored them massive fan base in Mzansi as they are seen as the cutest and strongest couple in the BB house. I am sure regular viewers of BBM have learnt that Blue is not just a pretty face, she is also beautiful in the heart and in the brains. To top it all, she is the most fashionable housemate in BBM season 2. Without going far; let me share few of her fashion moments as well as some of her work as a professional model. Enjoy....

Isn't she just pretty?

The SAMAXXI

Hello hi
It's that kind of a Monday where everyone is recovering from a fashion infested weekend. Yes, the fashion from the 21st annual South African Music Awards. The awards were held in the North West at the famous Sun City with sponsorships from the likes of Kia, Amstel, SABC and Sun International. We were not there, but bloggers need not to attend an event to know what happened lol.
The event was a success with a few flops such as a dead crowd and the not-so-good quality sound. But we forgive them. The ceremony was hosted by SA Hip Hop king HHP and SABC 1's Lerato Kganyago. Congratulations are in order to those who scooped the awards especially K.O. and Bucie who never really go home with anything.
So, we all know the SAMAs or any kind of awards are never complete without the fashion. The red carpet was graced by the walks of various SA fashionistas. I must say, the most trending last night was lace, mesh and embellishments.

Let me share few of the spotted red carpet fashion moments.
5fm's Thando Thabethe in a mermaid back peplum gown. It looks a bit loose but she  is still gorgeous

The black Pearl, Ms Thusi in a David Tlale creation.. Boobies on the show, loving it

This was one of the most controversial outfits of the night. Dineo braved it in this boob tube piece x shiffon skirt that left less for imagination

Lerato Kganyago in the glitzy mini flair gown and the huge fringe bang. I shall leave it here

Singer Vusi Nova.. Loving the navy blue steez
Legend Ringo and his date

Did Lira have less time to prepare for the SAMAs? Is she wearing flats or? She looks cute in pink though

I love loot love, the coolest kid in celebville. She nailed it with this red power suit and a lace crop. Good combo  but it could have worked well in pointy court heels or stellitos

Everything is wrong here.. Kelly Khumalo and her sister looking like grandmas who like things
The Soil matched in burgundy and black. We will forgive this dude for the checkered shirt, not even tucked in

Nomzamo Mbatha looking sexy as ever, serving thigh in this sheer number

Love it love it love it.. This woman is gorgeous hle
Ok. So much is going on here. Nandi Mngoma in this metal embellished mini dress x the mesh drape x gladiators. I don't know hey.. She's beautiful though
This is different but super gorge. Boity turned heads in this essemble by Ursula of Destiny Moon creations. She wore it very well
Fashion blogger and stylist Sarah Langa in a fringe x mess dress by Tuelo Nguyuza. I've seen this guy's work before, he's going places, so many beautiful creations

Casper Nyovest looking green in this suits x sneakers. Unique is smart.

So that is all I have from the SAMAXXI red carpet. As successful as the event was, the fashion wasn't bad either. We will forgive those who went off the rail.

Hope you enjoyed

MAKE UP CHRONICLES

Hello hi
It's a Thursday, while others dedicate it to throwbacks, we at The Glamour Zone spend the day talking everything make up. I have realized that the number of ladies who use make up is going high with times but unfortunately it's not every one of them who gets it right. You get ladies who do their make up perfectly well, you get those who try to do make it look less dramatic, and then you get those playing art painting on their face. It's ok, no one was born with make up skills, we are here to try and help with the little that we've learnt in make up school. The main secret with make up is knowing your face and skin.

So I am going to outline a few DOs and DONTs of using make up and hopefully they will be beneficial to your daily application of make up..

1. DO you use a foundation that matches your skin. At most make up stores they always offer to test your skin and advice you on the colour suitable for you. DON'T buy a lighter shade thinking it will make you look good.
2. When applying foundation; cream or liquid, DO apply it on your eye lids to avoid having lighter and darker shades on your face, DON'T neglect your ears and under chin when applying foundation to secure one shade on your skin.
3. DON'T apply too many colours on your face, green eyeshadow, pink blush, red lips, you don't wanna look like a clown, DO apply minimal colours or one colour at a time. The brighter the lips, the lighter shades of eyeshadows or vice versa
4. DO shape your eyebrows and use a liner, strutter pencil or darker shadows to give them a nice shape. DON'T shave off all your eyebrows and draw a nike sign with a pencil, it's make up not art class.
5. When applying eyeliner DO apply it as close to the lash line as possible, DON'T let it smudge too much as it will create a hot mess in your eyes. A white eyeliner works well for those with small eyes, it gives an illusion of big clean eyes.
6. DON'T apply blue or green eye shadows when you are too dark. Avoid such bright colours as they will make you look like a Xmas tree. DO use lighter colours such as gold, brown, black, silver. Dark purple works well for dark skin as well.
7. Know when to apply what kind of make up. DO use light to nude make up on daytime, DON'T go for too bright or shinny make up during the day. Avoid shadows with glits and shimmering highlighters during the day. At night you can go a bit overboard but be careful with the colours, DONT mix.
8. Please be careful with the blush. We all love to have a cheeky bone look but not all of us can rock it well. DONT apply blush all over your chicks, apply it on the core of your cheeks directly below the center of your eyes. DONT over apply it, a little is enough, we don't have to see pink paintings on your cheeks.
9. DO have assorted brushes for different  purposes. DON'T use one brush for everything and think you'll get away with it.
10. When applying your make up, a very bright light in the room might fool you on the mirror into thinking you look nice. Be careful, what you see on that mirror might not be what people are going to see out there in the natural day light.
11. Please DO moisturizer your face before applying any make up. DON'T apply make up on a dry cracky face. You are damaging your skin and the foundation won't look pleasing on your face. For those with oily skin, apply a face lotion with less oil but avoid things like "Ponds for very oily". It will make your skin very dry.
12. DONT apply matte lipstick on cracked lips, the good look will not last even 30 minutes. DO apply a small amount of Vaseline jelly on the lips if you want to use a matte lipstick.
13. Consider the colours and textures of your outfit while applying make up. Shiny shadows and highlighter  with glitzy clothes might make you look like those ladies who work in the streets at night. Take it easy with too much glitz and bright colours. it's ok to match your make up colours with your clothes, as long as the colours are minimal.
14. Take it easy with the powder. Powder is just a cherry on top version of make up. It's purpose is to create a dry matte finish and to help the look last long. DONT over apply powder hoping to look like a yellowbone, it will do nothing but make you look like you just woke up from the dead. With powder, DO focus on the T area (forehead, cheeks and nose), these are the areas where you get most oily. DO use a dry sponge or designated powder brush to apply. Using the foundation sponge to apply powder will create mud on your face.
15. DONT over do things, less is more when it comes to make up. Too much foundation will give you a scary face, too much colour will give you a clown face, too much mascara will cause a mess on your eyes and so forth.
16. DONT use too oily lip gloss, it will look like you just ate pork. There are nice glossy lipsticks or balms that you can use without putting oil on your lips.
17. DONT mix highlighter and bronzer. They have similar purposes. One at a time. Dark skin are advised to go for highlighter instead of bronzer as bronzer is used for a tan.
18. Be careful of very long fake lashes. DONT put umbrellas on your eyes, it does not look good and I'm sure it's uncomfortable. DO put medium or short length fake lashes for those who love them.
19. DONT apply bright eyeshadows on the entire lid up to the eyebrows. Play with different shades when applying shadows. DO use lighter shadows on the upper part of the lid and darker ones on the lower part right on top of your eye. Blend them well with a brown or black shadow from the middle towards outter part of your lid. Avoid too much smokey eye during the day.
20. MOST IMPORTANTLY, please DONT go to bed and sleep with make up on. You are damaging your skin and your pillows of course. Make up chemicals close pores on the skin and also with make up on your skin collects tiny dirty particles that stick on your skin. DO wash your face every night to clean up the make up, the dirt and open your pores. Your skin needs to breath. Preferably you need to remove make up with a cleansing remover or wipes, then scrub, face wash, tone and moisturize.

It's ok to try to enhance your beauty but be careful of over doing it. The lesser the better. I hope the 20 tips will be helpful to my make up users.
